We, as post-modern flat Earth astronomers, have at our fingertips two technologies that previous generations of astronomers did not have at theirs:
1. digital cameras
2. the internet
Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to amass immense amounts of digital astronomical data, and to collect and collate the information into an archive for the purpose of researching and verifying flat Earth cosmology.
I propose the creation of a new IFERS Category called "IFERSDAA" that exists solely as an archive of digital astronomical data (video, photo, sketch, note, etc.) collected and published by IFERS members.
Accepted IFERSDAA data will include the following information regarding the observer/observation:
1. Latitude/Longitude Of Observer
2. Elevation Above Sea Level Of Observer
2. Direction/Angle In Sky Of Observation
4. Date/Time Of Observation
I suggest the following order of Topics in the IFERSDAA Category:
1. Polaris
2. Constellations
3. Stars
4. Planets
5. Sun
6. Moon
7. Atmosphere
8. Earth
9. Sea

I'll have some data coming soon, looked at new cameras last week however everything the gentlemen at the store recommended was >$1000 without any lens.
If anyone is experienced in cameras, would be keen to know what sort of camera I should be looking for - will try find one second hand to save some money.

I understand your reluctance to create a new category and appreciate the opportunity to start building an astronomical database here in this thread.
By gathering and publishing documented observations from various vantage points across the flat Earth, IFERS astronomers will create a credible, independent resource for researching the heavens.
If there is enough interest in IFERSDAA, then perhaps I will create a new forum altogether to pursue this goal.

Just like you, I need to buy a better camera.
Until then, I am going to set up a tripod for the camera I have and continue practicing.

I wouldn't jump the gun on creating a new forum, I agree with Eric that we don't need to create a bunch of empty forums to get started. I'm sure if we build enough data in this thread that warrants new forums for clarity sake, Eric would be aboard.

I called a friend who used to do some photography in university yesterday. She suggested I get a decent SLR with a good lens and tripod - luckily she just bought a new camera and is selling her old Canon EOS 650D.
I should have it the week after next and I'll start getting some pictures added to the thread.

I was finally able to get a few decent photos of the waxing gibbous Moon last night.
For the record, these shots were taken with a 12 megapixel Nikon Coolpix L22 camera with a paltry 3.6x optical zoom, without a tripod.
I am currently trying to figure out a way to secure my camera to my old telescope tripod. Hopefully then the camera will be stabilized enough to allow me to fully zoom in on the Moon.
I will add my analysis of these photos to The Flat Moon Over The Flat Earth thread later tonight or tomorrow. The Moon does indeed appear to rotate clockwise about its center point to a stationary observer north of the equator.

Great work plinthearth, I'll be adding some shots as soon as I get my camera - just waiting for it to be dropped off. Bought a tripod and a few different lens to work with too.

I am making pictures of the moon for 11 months, cameralocation: the heart of the Netherlands.
Camera: Fujifilm S1, all pictures level within 1 degree.
Zoom: always maximal, so optical and digital.
Exposure: different for checking details.
City: Amersfoort, the Netherlands (Holland)
Coordinates: N52.1 E5.4
Level of camera above sealevel: 7 meters!
Almost every picture with date and time exact within 1 minute.
Timezone: Amsterdam. (I use local time, so also winter- and summertime)
I like to find out the rotation of the moon and more.
If Earth is flat you can compare the same position of the moons rotation anywhere.
My complete archive I will share with you (will be updated monthly):

We can communicate for moonshots at the same time by whatsapp. than there is no need for timecomparison!

The apparent rotation of the Moon about its center point may be due to the Moon actually rotating as it crosses the sky or the apparent rotation may be due to an optical illusion created by the long horizontal distance the Moon travels while still visible to a stationary observer.
By comparing photos taken at similar times (relative to the local time of day of the observer) at different longitudes we will hopefully be able to determine this.
In order to accurately compare photos, we need to establish a protocol to be followed by all observers participating in this research. I have developed the Observation Data order and the Moon Sequence template in an effort to accomplish this. Please study these and let me know if you think that they are sufficient for the task. Another template to compare observations from different locations will also need to be devised.
As soon as I have some extra time, I will look at your photos one by one to hopefully find observations that match some of mine. I will publish my analysis in The Flat Moon Over The Flat Earth thread.
