Coming out as FE to my family - advice please!

Hi all

I’ve been following Eric’s work for about 6 months, and I’ve read much of the material he’s shared from the writers at turn of the last century. I am grateful to this community for sharing so generously - it's been a life-changing journey!

I am not yet "out" to my family, and have only one friend who I have felt confident to tell - who I knew would be open to me saying that I don’t believe in the globe nonsense anymore.

I know that everyone has different ways of processing information, and there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to talking about this. Some people will throw up their hands and claim they’re not scientists and don’t want to hear anything about calculations, and others will demand scientific or mathematical proofs. Some people are more visual and others might trust their senses.

Because it’s such a threatening idea to confront people with, it can be hard to get past the first reaction of horror, to actually get them to listen and not shoot the messenger. So it’s important to appeal to each person in a way that they can process.

I would love to hear from others what their top 5 most convincing proofs are for flat earth - from their own awakening and their experience of people’s reactions - and which proofs might work best for which types of people.

For me, reading those early writers like Rowbotham and Winship really cemented my understanding, after watching a number of Eric’s videos.

My advice is that taking a strong position on a subject will strengthen your entire life. Truly, family and friends will stand with you and respect your beliefs when you are consistent and clear with who you are.

Avoid trying to Prove or Debunk, but instead share some observations, such as:

1) The vast, unyielding, unforgiving vacuum of outerspace should have sucked the atmosphere of the earth out into nothing long, long ago. Atmosphere cannot exist side-by-side with vacuum.

2) Satellites are said to be thousands upon thousands of bright, shiny boxes, coated in golden foil and having large solar arrays. And, such hardware, even occasionally, should allow its own glittery reflections to flash and sparkle in the night, morning or even the daytime skies. Where are all of these satellites?

3) They say that boats disappear over the horizon -- but flying aircraft never disappear over the horizon. If the earth was a round ball, aircraft should appear to plunge downward at a perpendicular angle toward the horizon and disappear nose-first, especially if they are only 7-miles up in the air and the horizon is only 13 miles away while standing on the ground level. Airplanes never shoot straight up or down to or from the horizon.

4) Meteor showers, even once in a while, should shoot upwards from the horizon or even shoot northward. Meteors never shoot straight up from the horizon. Meteors never shoot northward. Meteors never shoot downward at a perpendicular angle to the ground or toward the horizon.

These observations are simple enough, even as a topic of discussion, to strengthen your position that the earth is not round. And if you really want to keep the discussion lively, just say, "I am a flat earther and I dare you to prove that I'm not."

There is a reason why each one of us reads through and researches the topics presented upon this site. What we do with the evidence we see and the knowledge we gain is on us. Family and friends can accept it or reject it as they see fit.

That is my advice.

everyone is a scientist, science is not something that only special people with special AUTHORITY get to do, everyone can do it, and all our senses and reasoning shows a flat earth, everyone KNOWS the earth is flat, they simply beLIEve in worshipping authority figures claiming to have special knowledge only they can have access to

Oliver, thank you for taking the time to reply to me and for your advice.

This is the second time I've posted on this forum, and the second time I've been accused of being a shill.
My motivation for joining was out of loneliness, looking for a supportive group of people I could have discussions with.
I've found quite the opposite, this space feels very unfriendly and intimidating.
I've the deepest respect for Eric and all the incredible work he does. However, this forum does not seem to reflect his peaceful, inclusive brand of wisdom.

All the more reason that I appreciate your sensitive response Oliver.

I would suggest the starting point of asking for their reasoning on why they believe they live on a globe.

I gathered as much information I could about the history of the spinning globe. How it was started with Jesuits and Freemasons. Then I presented Admiral Byrd and Auguste Piccard. Then the timeline of the treaty of Antarctica, NASA, and Disney. After that I showed the flight paths from NY to China and others showing how ridiculous they look on the globe but make sense on the flat earth. I also had proof that in NASA and government documents they all have the phrase when calculating anything "assume a non rotating flat earth". Good luck!

Just told them, i told them right away.. i didn't knew to much yet and i said something like "i think this is not a planet", some days later was I KNOW is not a "planet"  

Doesn't matter what u say, they r BRAINWASHED, and there r FACTS they would not understand o would not accept. Try, waste your time, but this TRUTH is for a select few

Absolutely! Remember to do so in a non-confrontational manner. Then explain that the only reason "you believe the Earth is a spinning ball" is because somebody else told you that. Our senses and all experiments never tell us the Earth is a spinning ball. Then I would cherry pick a few main points: Water is level, planes fly straight without dipping their noses, the horizon rises upon ascension, The mathematical formula for curvature on a 25,000-mile circumference ball is 8 inches per mile squared - meaning you could not see straight for miles with a telescope. Then I'd give them a video such as Eric's 200 Proofs.
