Fracking
Posted by rebecca on 10/01/2015
hi this is a subject I am really interested in. I have watched the documentary Gas Lands. And have just watched this
In Australia there is a lot of fracking and this doco speaks of what is going on in Queensland. Apparently 3/4 of that state is being fracked!
Thye were going to frack UK but the people have stopped the companies. Shame it wasn't stopped here!

Yes, it is an absolute disgrace and it should not be allowed anywhere on Earth.
Thankfully we managed to stop it in parts of the UK for the time being, but I am worried that it won't last long. They are currently trying to frack underneath the beautiful countryside where I live in South-East England.

I live in Oklahoma and it sure is interesting how earthquakes have increased considerably along with fracking efforts. Coincidence? I think not.

Fracking is totally evil. What government anywhere in their right minds would allow this! I know that it is all about money bit how much can Oz be making if they give them the use of the coal fired power stations to convert this stuff?

Coal seam mining and fracking (Hydraulic fracturing)
Hydraulic fracturing, more commonly known as fracking or fraccing, is used to stimulate and accelerate the flow of coal seam gas. The process involves high pressured injection of sand, water and chemicals into the coal seam gas well. The injection causes fractures in the coal seam allowing the gas to flow to the surface of the well.
I think Luke has written a great song here highlighting the issue. Thanks!
And this man too:
@Davey, a great wee song ma man thanks! I am gonna learn it:-)

Re: Fracking
I forgot where I came across it, but I once read a post by a guy about a month ago, who claimed he was a veteran of the oil extraction industry, and his main points where this:
Hydrofracking is actually an old technique use to extract more oil from already exhausted oil wells.
What's going on right now, worldwide, is the use of hydrofracking to supposedly drill NEW wells, which simply doesn't make any sense, since the best way to find new oil fields has always been non-invasive techniques like ground sonar etc.
His conspiracy theory on why they are doing this is to specifically contaminate natural water wells, and that many small towns have hydro-fracked water contamination of their general water supply, an they now have to rely solely on trucked in water for general use and bottled water for drinking and cooking.
People in these ground water contaminated areas are said to be able to pour a glass of water from their home taps, and literally light them on fire....
Do a youtube search for: Hydro+Fracking+contaminating+water+ignite+from+the+tap
Long story short, the guy believes THEY are hydrofracking to deliberately contaminate water so that the population must count on imported water supplies that THEY control.

Re: Fracking
I have a gut feeling fracking is not for extraction of gas or oil. I think they are intentionally placing chemicals in the ground, maybe the same concoction that is being sprayed in atmosphere? Chemical soup is a trade secret. That right there makes it suspect. Chemicals above, chemicals below, huge magnet Cern in the middle. Does this mean anything? I don't know, but the fracking does not make any sense. Shale is split and it absorbs. Would love to go to fracking site and watch the whole thing. Are their trucks really toting away oil and gas? Storing it where? Are they really bringing what they call wastewater back up? Or is it meant to stay there.

Re: Fracking
As someone with years of experience in the oil field, and have been on countless drilling and "frac" sites, you are all partially correct. It does use sand, water, and chemicals under very high pressures to frac the well. Every well is different while the overall concept stays the same. I've seen wells frac'd with a minimal or no chemicals to others with a unique combination that makes ones head spin. They're always working to find a method that costs less and produces more. Nobody deliberately contaminates a well just for the hell of it. That's stupid! And if you're caught doing it the fines are unbelievable. There are all manner of factors involved from gas produced, etc. As the well is drilled it's "cased" with steel tubing and cement. This is to prevent it collapsing and also keep it from contaminating the surrounding formation during the procedure. It's not always perfect but it works pretty well. Just work on a site from drilling through completion and you'll be amazed at the process. I was. If frac procedures were not followed you can bet that there would be more screaming about high prices and yada yada yada. In the end it really is all about following the money. I don't have any love for oil industry but there needs to be balance in the discussion. And there is NO SHORTAGE of oil. Anyone who says so is a fool. One field was announced close to where I once lived and worked. It is estimated to contain more oil than all of Saudi. That's just one field! How many others have already been discovered but not tapped into? Huh? It's absurd how fearful and alarmist ignorant people can be. Hence the global warming idiocy. And politicians are more than happy to fleece the ignorant sheep.
