Decentralized Search Engine
Which search engine do you use? Currently I'm using https://presearch.org/
https://presearch.io/
https://presearch.io/vision.pdf (white paper)
I use it in the Brave browser.

Re: Decentralized Search Engine
I use Brave browser with Brave Search. Presearch is not too bad. I did a quick test search for “Elon Musk Twitter” and “Ukraine News.” Presearch led with an advertisement but the results were balanced. However no link to Twitter page for Elon Musk. Brave Search was pretty bad. Not balanced and too much Reddit crap. It did provide a link for Elon’s Twitter page. Now Google and DDG were by far the worst. Both were smart enough to lead with Elon’s Twitter page but the Ukraine results were curated propaganda news pieces.

even when i search "international Flat earth Society" on presearch.org, it will not show this site. I search Eric Dubay, and his site doesn't come up. all search engines are crap.

Thanks for sharing but Yandex can be utilized from within Presearch. Also, if you type “International flat earth research society” it does show up in the first few results. Eric Dubay also shows up. Yandex is a competitor to google and far from decentralized but use whatever works for you.

Re: Decentralized Search Engine
Search engine bias is inevitable and a consequence of optimization. Whether you want to optimize for truth, relevance, location, offensive content, language etc. you will always find bias. The user can’t be lazy and expect an algorithm to sort through the facts for them. You are the fact-checker. Use your discernment and search engines are very useful. If your looking for a perfect “non-bias” search engine you will be waiting for a long time. If your ok with data collecting search engines like Yandex then that’s cool.

Re: Decentralized Search Engine
At this point I think some kind of open curated list would be better than a search engine. We will never have the resources to be able to compete with Google or any other government/intelligence funded asset and search engines need phenomenal amounts of hardware and resources; and hence they will always be compromised and bow to censorship requests. I think an open-source curated list would be best because it would be small, efficient and easily spreadable/updatable - possibly via a distributed database.

Re: Decentralized Search Engine
I agree and this is where things are already headed. Decentralized, open-source, curated content on blockchain tech. Also a curated list would still be compatible with the search engine model.
