I just had a small eureka moment. From these German maps posted by zero11 (and according to all flat earth maps), I realized that Canada is smaller than the USA, but this doesn't match Wikipedia's data:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_dependencies_by_area#Countries_and_dependencies_by_area
Also, Africa, Australia and South America combined should be much bigger than the rest of the world, yet, once again, this does not match Wikipedia:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent#Area_and_population
Finally, Australia's area should be at least as big as Russia, but it is not:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_and_dependencies_by_area#Countries_and_dependencies_by_area
It is less than half of it. And this also matches this interactive rotating globular earth:
www.earthbrowser.com/
So they must be cheating on the area measurements, too. We should investigate how this is possible, because there should be a way to prove that they are cheating.

Still don't know which if any are accurate I won't choose "an official map" until it's proven.

Agreed.
I've been referencing the "Hammond's air age map of the world", 1948 - 1953. My reason is that the United States
Army Air Corps (USAAC) would have required accurate distances for Dead Reckoning, through Visual Flight
Referencing.

I am interested in your opinions about the North Pole/Arctic. I personally think that it is a continent, and that the Mercator maps were correct in how they portrayed it. I also don't believe that it is fully covered in snow and ice; many 19th Century explorers described mild conditions, and we know that birds migrate northwards towards the 'pole', which they would only do if the weather was warm.

The maps that we are shown are all bullshit, even the BBC admitted as such. No one has a clue what a genuine map of the Earth would look like.

If you take this map:
media.web.britannica.com/eb-media/57/109157-050-0DC404D6.gif
Rotate it right some it matches the UN flag exactly. Without North Pole area.

"The azimuthal equidistant projection is an azimuthal map projection. It has the useful properties that all points on the map are at proportionately correct distances from the center point, and that all points on the map are at the correct azimuth (direction) from the center point. A useful application for this type of projection is a polar projection which shows all meridians (lines of longitude) as straight, with distances from the north pole represented correctly. The flag of the United Nations contains an example of a polar azimuthal equidistant projection.
This projection is used by the USGS in the National Atlas of the United States of America, and for large-scale mapping of Micronesia. It is useful for showing airline distances from center point of projection and for seismic and radio work.
In the case of radio, this projection allows for directional antenna aiming, especially in the case of HF communications. An operator can point the antenna, usually by an electric rotator, simply locating the target in the map and rotating the antenna to the angle indicated by the map. The map should be centered as nearly as possible to the actual antenna location."
That all says to me it is the actual map of our world.
Why use it for all measures of distances between points? Because it is correct.

Drawing a realistic map sounds nice, but unless a FEer team photographs the pieces from a reachable athmospheric height and gather their own composite image, it will stay as a mistery.
Most of the flat earth maps we uploaded are based on / projected from a Mercator map, so I personally do not feel comfortable with any of them.
1-
Through my netsurfing I came to Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) which is a bit different from what we see on a globe. Interestingly the grids are not eliptical and when reading a map you have to truncate some areas of the existing map. I will not be following this clue any longer, here are the links that drew my attention:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_grid_reference_system
earth-info.nga.mil/GandG/coordsys/mmr201.pdf
www.armystudyguide.com/content/Prep_For_Basic_Training/Prep_for_basic_land_navigation/measure-distance-on-a-mil.shtml
blog.databender.net/2015/02/04/mgrs-coordinates-in-tableau/
2-
I have tried drawing earthquake fault lines (not all the lines , but intense earthquake locations) on FE on my Paint program
The most interesting thing was; one of the major lines is nearly a direct line starting from Antarctica closest to South America, ending at Antarctica closest to Australia. Since I don't think that Australia is such transversely wide as on the FE map I used, it could be a real straight line in reality. Who knows. And also when all the fault lines are drawn and intersect each other, the world seems to consist of 4 territories:
North America+ Eurasia
South America
Africa
Australia
3-
I have tried drawing fey lines (monuments from the ancient, thought to be following a sunrise-sunset path) on a FE as well, but couldn't. Then having googled for "world chakra points" and marking them on the FE, realized that they all are on the tropics. Leaving only the ones on land, and connecting the 5 dots, I got a NASA logo-like triangle. The angle was a bit wide, so I came to the conclusion that the map was wrong
4-
Some of Richard Garriott's earth photographies from his space travel (athmosferic travel) seem to be realistic. There are over 1000 photos. I wonder whether they can be composited. My focus of interest would be Australia. (Of course you will realize the ones which are manipulated by NASA, the fish-eyed ones and the ones where a part of the vehicle enters the shot)
www.windowsonearth.org/keyword/richard%20garriott/
If I had paid that much for a "space travel" and stayed within the athmosphere, I would have asked to take my money back
(edit: actually I was going to mention Guy Laliberté photos in his book Gaia)

I don't particularly trust any of the maps, but the general azimuthal equidistant flat Earth maps certainly are far more accurate than globe or traditional mercator projections.
